IDOX plc is unique in combining a comprehensive information service with fully developed web based document management solutions.
Its information service has been developed over the last 25 years to be the most comprehensive of its type in the UK. This was confirmed by the British Library in 2000.
Using its combined experience and skills the company has developed a number of electronic ‘Reading Rooms’. A Reading Room delivers a virtual library around a theme, a one-stop shop, to all information about a particular topic. The Reading Room may contain snippets of information or lengthy research or policy documents. IDOX Reading Rooms is developed and maintained by a unique team made up 12 information officers, researchers and software developers.
Information Services covers the following areas:
To satisfy the need for relevant information, the
Service scans all issues of over 500 journals and
periodicals annually, looking for high quality, informative
articles on policy, its interpretation and implementation
across the wide range of subjects, topics and issues.
The Information Service also receives many newsletters, press releases, email
alerts and eBulletins. The Service receives all the publishers'
lists
in the UK covering the full spectrum of our subject interests.
A wide range of reference materials is also held. However,
one of the Service's greatest strengths is the collection
of semi-published materials held. In 2000, The British Library
assessed this collection as better than their own or that
held by the former London Research Centre. Over 100,000 items
are currently held in stock.
